I am an independent consultant based in Cyprus and conclude engagement contracts personally. Alongside that I am employed part-time at falocon Ltd, a Cypriot IT service provider owned by Leonie Franz, and support existing clients there as part of a team under that employment.
For you this has two practical advantages: there is employment subject to social insurance contributions – where tenders require this, the condition is met. And I am not dependent on a single engagement, which takes the pressure off the question of false self-employment from the outset.
The two areas are separate: freelance engagements run exclusively through me personally, not through falocon.
Fixed-term engagements with clear responsibility: project management through to acceptance, interim management until the position is filled, compliance programmes through to attestation, digitalisation projects with a defined result. Mittelstand, upper Mittelstand, corporate environments. German and English.
Pure execution roles without a share of the responsibility. Software and model development. System administration as a permanent task. Engagements requiring security clearance at SÜ2 level or above – that is not feasible with residence in Cyprus. And ongoing support instead of a fixed-term engagement; falocon exists for that.
Saying this honestly up front saves us both the third meeting.
The day rate depends on duration, utilisation model and travel component. Tell me the framework of the engagement – I will tell you plainly and quickly whether it fits.
For longer durations and high utilisation there is room to move. For short, travel-intensive assignments, less.
